New Protection Measures for Teenagers

Meta has implemented updates on Instagram aimed at increasing the safety of teenage users. From now on, users under 16 need parental authorization to conduct live streams on the platform. Additionally, they will not be able to disable the filter that blurs images suspected of nudity received via direct messages.

These changes are part of the expansion of "Teen Accounts," which include default privacy settings, restrictions on messages from strangers, and limitations on sensitive content. Meta is also testing the use of artificial intelligence to identify users who may have provided incorrect age information, automatically adjusting their accounts to teen mode.

The new rules are being implemented initially in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada, with plans to expand to other countries in the coming months.
